Workshop Focus
This is a practical, working session with two core objectives:

  • Toolkit Development
Participants will co-design the core components of a Practitioner Toolkit for Counter Human Trafficking Programming in Disasters.
This toolkit will translate the international standard into actionable guidance, tools, and resources that can be used directly by disaster managers and humanitarian actors.
  • Trafficking Risk Intelligence
This part of the workshop with explore how organisations can identify, share, and respond to trafficking risks in real time during disasters.
Participants will examine mechanisms for coordination and information exchange, and the role of Freedom in Disasters in connecting local actors with international systems.

How It Works

  • Collaborative Working Sessions (on-site and online)
Facilitated discussions, breakout groups, and practitioner-led exchanges
  • Sharing of insights and knowledge from the Field
Capturing real-world insights from organisations operating
  • Co-Creation
Designing tools, systems, and approaches that are practical and scalable

Outcomes
The workshop will directly inform:

  • A practitioner toolkit for disaster responders
  • A concept for a trafficking risk intelligence network
  • Ongoing collaboration between humanitarian and counter-trafficking actors

Why It Matters

  • Disasters create conditions where vulnerability increases and risks escalate.
  • Effective prevention requires not just frameworks, but tools, coordination, and real-time action.

This workshop is a critical step in strengthening global capacity to prevent human trafficking where and when it matters most.

Help shape the future of prevention in disaster contexts
